Lauren Alaina Is "Nervous" for Her CMA Nomination
Lauren Alaina is getting good vulnerable.
Amid the Academy of Country Music Awards airing May 8, the “Getting Good” singer opened up about missing the ceremony amid her pregnancy with her first baby with husband Cam Arnold.
“I’m sitting at home watching the ACMs and I’m so proud of everyone tonight,” Lauren tearfully said in an Instagram video May 8. “Everyone that’s performed, that’s won. I get so excited for everyone because I have this same dream and I want to be there and I wanna be getting these awards, and having these performances and presenting the awards.”
However, Lauren—who rose to fame on American Idol’s 10th season in 2011—explained that being 37 weeks pregnant with her baby girl was making her feel extra emotional about the fear of missing out.
“I’m feeling left out,” she continued. “I’m feeling sad. I’m feeling so many feelings. I have this little girl in here and I want her to dream big and I want her to believe in herself and go for whatever she wants to do. The last couple of years have been a transition for me with music and all these things and I just feel left behind.”
The 30-year-old, who tied the knot with Cam last February, noted that “making it” in the music industry was much harder to do these days.
“It’s not just about writing music and putting songs out anymore, you have to do all these other things,” she explained. “I don’t know. I’m probably going to regret even posting this but I just want to say if there’s someone out there who has a big dream and you feel like people are getting in front of you and ahead of you. It’s not a competition but if you feel like you want to be somewhere and you’re not there–I see you and I feel you.”

And while Lauren—who has won one ACM award and received three additional nominations over the years—was prompted to post the video because of her pregnancy, she said the feelings were there even before she knew she was expanding her family.
“This has nothing to do with this little baby,” she added. “I felt this way last year. I didn’t go to the ACMs last year either and I just desperately want to be there tonight.”
As she put it, “Some of my dearest friends in the industry are there and they’re winning and I know what that means to them because it’s what I want.”
